Boeing Awards DiCon Fiberoptics $1.9M Contract for MEMS-Based Secure Switching Units for P-8A ProgramOctober 30, 2006 RICHMOND, CA - October 30, 2006 - DiCon Fiberoptics, a leader in MEMS-based fiberoptic switches has been awarded a $1.9M contract by The Boeing Corporation to supply an avionics-grade, all optical, fiberoptic Secure Switching Unit for the United States Navy’s P-8A program. “DiCon welcomes the opportunity to participate in the P-8A program, continuing our tradition of supporting military and avionic applications,” said Robert Schleicher, VP of Business and Product Development for DiCon. “We are honored that Boeing has selected DiCon for this project. The Secure Switching Unit combines DiCon’s superior MEMS technology with our comprehensive engineering support.” The P8-A is a long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft, designed for diverse maritime missions and will supercede the current fleet of P-3C aircraft. Deployment is scheduled for 2013, with initial test
flights beginning in 2009. |
