"The MEMS 1xN Optical Switch with External PCB is our newest form factor. It is similar in size to our MS1 package but the cylindrical optical switch element is mounted to an external PCB. The new form factor has the same pin-out and electrical control of the MS1, which makes it a drop in replacement for any MS1 switch," said Robert Schleicher, DiCon's VP of Product Development. "This fiber optic switch is ideal for optical communications or bio-medical applications where a digitized switch is desired and size and cost are driving factors." DiCon's MEMS technology is proven, with hundreds of thousands of units shipped. The MEMS 1xN Optical Switch with external PCB meets stringent Telcordia GR-1221 standards, ensuring excellent performance in the field even against adverse conditions. In addition, these switches have excellent repeatability, fast switching time, and reliable optical performance. The MEMS 1xN Optical Switch with External PCB has compact dimensions of 41.2 mm x 16.0 mm x 9.34 mm. It is available in port counts from 1x2 up to 1x12 when made with single mode fiber. DiCon can supply fiber optic switches with multimode or specialty fiber, optimized for visible or near-infrared wavelengths.
